How to Modify the Barcode JavaBean Available on OTN (Doc ID 280482.1)

Symptoms

 - Using the JavaBean barcode demo from OTN called "Building a Report with a Barcode"
- Trying to change the length of the barcode from 0.030 to 0.010 (3 inches to 1 inch) and
  trying to keep the same width of 0.005 is not working.
- After changing the barcode length, the width is changing automatically to
  a smaller size.
- How does one keep the barcode length constant?
