Symptoms
While running within the Oracle Commerce Cloud service (which is itself running in OCI on WebLogic 12.2.1.3.0), an issue is encountered where a specific SQL update did not complete and caused a STUCK thread.
The transaction was holding certain database locks that prevented other updates from occurring, which eventually caused a site outage.
The list of blocking sessions showed the particular SQL session with an EVENT of "SQL*Net more data from client".
The main issue is that the Java side of things appears to be waiting on the database, while the database was waiting on the Java side.
