Symptoms

In Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Studio 12.2.1.4, when using smart import including variables that already exist in the repository, and if selecting to "Create Copy" of a Marker Group that is included in the Smart Export file, the variables are overwritten with an empty "Refreshing" "Select Query".

Importing a second time brings back the expected "Select Query".
Importing a third time removes the "select query".
Import again, and the "select query" is imported.

To reproduce:

  1. Create a project
  2. Create a variable
  3. Add "Select Query" under "Refreshing" tab:
  4. Save
  5. Smart export the project
  6. Smart import the project.
  7. In the "Smart Import - Step 2 of 3" window, expand "Designer"
Projects -> Project name -> Markers
For any of the Marker Group, select Action "Create Copy" instead of the default "Overwrite"
  8. Select "Next" and  "Finish"
  9. Examine the variable
=> notice that the "Select Query" under "Refreshing" tab is empty
  10. Repeat step 6 - 8
=> notice that the "Select Query" under "Refreshing" tab has the correct value
  11. Repeat step 6 - 8
=> notice that the "Select Query" under "Refreshing" tab is empty again
