Open a Specific Page URL for Public Users in WebCenter Portal Fails with "Internal Error" when set to a Full URL (Doc ID 2814076.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 16, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 12.2.1.3.0 to 12.2.1.4.0
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
The default Start Page for Public Users is not working when set to full URL.
This can be the full URL to a portal or page in a portal or an external link.

Using external URLs is set as in the following documentation:

It states:

You can enter a full or relative page URL as shown in these examples:

http://mywebcenter.com:8888/webcenter/portal/page/landingpage

http://mywebcenter.com:8888/webcenter/portal/portalname/page/landingpage

/portals/portalname/page/landingpage

If you specify an external page, make sure that you specify the full URL.

However it seems the "Open a Specific Page URL" option is expecting a partial URL and it breaks when you provide a full URL.

Accessing the default Start Page for Public Users fails with the following errors when using full URL:

ERROR

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Expect to be able to specify a full URL as the default Start Page for Public Users.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Connect to WebCenter Poirtal as an administrator user.

  2. Go to Administration > Settings > General.

  3. Scroll down to the "Default Portal" section.

  4. Set the default portal for public users to full URL.
This can be a full URL to a portal or to an external URL.

    e.g.:

    http://<HOST>:<PORT>/webcenter

    The error will occur.
