12c Contributor UI Search With Slash Error: "TokenMgrError: Lexical Error" (Doc ID 2826943.1)

Symptoms

While we do a search in 12c Contributor UI with a forward slash in the text (/) we are getting an error:

Example: Searching for "test/example" in the search bar results in the following error displaying in popup window:

"An exception occurred on the server while executing
 UI/Data/Search/Search: TokenMgrError: Lexical error at line , column
 26. Encountered: after: "/example". If problem persists
 please contact the system administrator."
