Goal
Oracle Access Manager (OAM) WebGate - Does It Support The Apache Web Server When Installed as "root" On A Unix Operating System
Scenario
- The Apache web server is installed and owned by "root" user, but pointing out to a separate OS user/group in its directives.
- This different user/group as directives are set in httpd.conf; with which the Apache processes are spawned as with this OS user, for example "<USER_NAME_VALUE>".
- The WebGate software binaries have been installed by this different OS user/group on the system, and NOT by the root user.
Group Directive |
The Group directive sets the group under which the server will answer requests. In order to use this directive, the server must be run initially as root. If you start the server as a non-root user, it will fail to change to the specified group, and will instead continue to run as the group of the original user. |
