Application Hangs When Node Down During Query Execution. (Doc ID 2890768.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 21, 2022

Applies to:

Universal Connection Pool - Version 19.5 to 21.6 [Release 18c to 21]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

There is java application using JDBC/UCP that connects to a 2-node RAC. If one node goes down while executing a query in a session connecting from the program, the application hangs without returning an Exception.

When a node down event is received, the version without the problem will properly clean up the Connection and receive a Closed Connection as shown below:

Since the version that causes the problem does NOT receive a Closed Connection, the application cannot perform Exception handling and continues to wait.

Changes

 Upgrade from 19c(19.3) Driver.
