Oracle HTTP Server 12c Serving NFS Files has High Load (Doc ID 2895543.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 13, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle HTTP Server - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The server where OHS 12c resides is showing high load averages(100+, 4 CPU) when compared to an 11g environment. Users note slowness/slow performance for 12c environment.

Example load averages: load average: 62.45, 77.53, 84.76

The httpd pids do not show CPU percentages which justify the load averages themselves. The high averages likely consist of other factors outside OHS pid usage such as overhead. Refer to OS documentation for how the values are calculated.

Changes

Environment is set up with an alias, directory, and symbolic link outside the OHS directory structure pointing to the NFS mount. The NFS mount has millions of files being accessed by users.
