OUD 12c: Instance deployed on Windows Server with Windows Service Enabled Reports Error "Instance needs to be upgraded." after Bundle Patch Applied (Doc ID 2902606.1)

Symptoms


On Windows Server , unable to start OUD instance after applying latest OUD BP
The OUD Bundle Patch was applied and since then OUD instances is not able to start.



The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

0. have an OUD instance deployed on Windows Server with related windows service enabled
1. apply latest OUD BP
2. run start-ds --upgrade
3. run start-ds
a message that instance need to be upgraded is displayed

 

Changes

On Windows Server, have an OUD Instance deployed with related windows service enabled.

Apply OUD Bundle Patch (either using opatch either SBP)
