Symptoms
ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
ESSO auto-sign on does not work
Users are prompted by the ESSO Authentication dialog to enter Windows credentials when starting an application for the first time after the initial desktop logon.
Applied the suggested fixes from knowledge article "ESSO Key Synchronizer issue", which are known to address other ESSO issues, but when testing during a reboot we still get the login prompt.
Workaround: ESSO works after logging in and does not prompt till the next Windows reboot.
Following steps did NOT help to resolve the issue-
====================================
1. Shut down ESSO (Right Click icon and select Shutdown)
2. Click Start Orb - Type regedit -> Right click on regedit.exe and run as administrator.
3. Navigate to HKEY_Current_User\software\passlogix (Note: Do NOT delete HKLM\software\passlogix).
4. Delete the Passlogix registry folder
5. Expand each HKEY_Users SID (S-1-5-XX-XXXXXXXX)
6. Locate and delete each Passlogix folder under Software (eg. S-1-5-XX-XXXXXXXX\Software\Passlogix) Note: Multiple Folders may exist.
7. Open Windows Explorer on the affected machine and enter %AppData% in the address bar
8. Delete the Passlogix folder
9. Uninstall ESSO-LM
10. Verify uninstall is completed successfully and reinstall ESSO LM
11. Restart ESSO
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
Users should not be prompted to enter Windows credentials when accessing an application after the initial desktop login.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
- Start the Windows computer.
- Logon to the desktop with Windows credentials.
- Startup an application enabled for use with ESSO Logon Manager.
BUSINESS IMPACT
Due to this issue, users are repeatedly prompted to enter Windows credentials when starting up an application after the initial desktop logon.
Changes
ESSO Logon Manager recently installed on newly imaged workstations.
