Fusion Middleware Installer Fails with "You do not have sufficient permissions to access the inventory" and "Read-only file system" (Doc ID 2979666.1)

Symptoms

When running the Fusion Middleware installation an error occurs.

You do not have sufficient permissions to access the inventory '<ORACLE_HOME>/oraInventory'. Installation cannot continue. Make sure that you have read/write permissions to the inventory directory and restart the installer.: Read-only file system


The user has permissions to the directory for read and write and so does the group the user is a member of.
