Issues with ODI 12c Agent Not Associated to a Logical Agent: java.lang.NullPointerException at the Agent Startup, Disruption of the Scheduling Feature and Freeze of ODI Studio when Viewing the Schedules (Doc ID 2993339.1)

Symptoms

Although the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c Agent tests successfully in the Studio > Topology user interface, the following symptoms are observed when the Physical Agent is not associated to any Logical Agent:

NullPointerException NOTIFICATION at the Agent startup and Schedule Refresh is seen in the standard output (nothing in the Agent log)...
Freeze of the ODI Studio when attempting to view the schedules of the Agent...
The following two ootb scheduled tasks are not executed:
- Cleanup of stale Sessions...
- Execution of Load Plan log purge...
Although the "Update Schedule" succeeds in the ODI Studio UI, it does not reset the Schedules that are already in the Agent's memory, causing unintended executions.
