ElasticSearch Total Hit Count Inconsistent When Running Text Wildcard Searches (Doc ID 3007406.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 29, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

WebCenter Content 12.2.1.4.0 or higher.

The WCC is configured for ElasticSearch.

When running a text wildcard search, the total hit count may change every time the same text search is called.

This can occur when content items contain multiple text prefixes within them.

As an example:

The WCC has content files with multiple text that have a
prefix of Man:

Man
Manning
Manor
Manufacturing
Manufacture
Manufactured
Manipulate
Manipulation
Manager
Managing

In the WCC search page text search pane, the text is entered as Man*

The search will return a hit count, like 2489.

Doing that same search, either by the same user or from another user may return a different hit count, like 2392.
