Oracle Access Manager (OAM) How to Configure an OAM Environment to Use Oracle Access Protocol (OAP) Hybrid/Multi Mode Communication (Doc ID 3010269.1)

Last updated on MARCH 14, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Access Manager - Version 11.1.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This note will describe an approach to allow the use of multiple OAP (Oracle Access Protocol) communication modes (OPEN/CERT) simultaneously in a single OAM environment.  This may be desirable as older versions of some components may not support CERT mode communication, or their support may be limited to weaker encryption methods.  In this case, it may be desirable to have some components in an OPEN mode, while others are in CERT mode.

LIMITATIONS:

This is generally not an appropriate approach for Multi Data Center environments, as there is an expectation in such environments that all communication will use a single OAP mode.

A given WebGate registration (and thus all the associated webgate instances using the artifacts associated with that registration) may only use a single communication mode at a time.  This is because the communication mode configured in the WebGate agent configuration page must exactly match the mode that WebGate uses to connect to the OAM server.
