Is it Possible to Uninstall or Reinstall Only the OUI Without Uninstalling the Existing Oracle Product Stack
(Doc ID 3021879.1)
Last updated on MAY 10, 2024
Applies to:
Oracle Fusion Middleware - Version 10.1.3.5.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
The purpose of this document is to address if it is possible to uninstall or reinstall the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) that comes with an Oracle software product installation.
For example, suppose you had previously installed OracleAS 10.1.3 (for which the OUI version is 10.1.0.5.0) onto a host machine. Then, for some reason (e.g. you applied a patch and the patch application failed during the prerequisite check due to a missing component in Oracle Home), you desire to uninstall and reinstall the OUI (e.g. because you believe that reinstalling the OUI may help with resolving the missing component in your Oracle Home). Is uninstalling or reinstalling OUI in an Oracle software product installation feasible?
