Purpose

This document provides supplemental instructions and requirements for installing Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.0) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4.0 and Oracle Enterprise Linux, to comply with certification provided from the following location:

Oracle has tested this combination and provides this document to list additional requirements, complementing the Linux Installation Guide and Release Notes:

Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) does not need the same additional steps as version 10.1.2.0.0. Installation requirements are in the Installation Guide and release Notes. However, the Installation Guide refers to 64-Bit certification, but does not provide any specific kernel packages that are certified. These are now in the Release Notes, and a link provided in a below section for version 10.1.2.0.2.

Note this document contains 10.1.2.0.0 and 10.1.2.0.2 information, as both were released shortly after each other and RH 4 certification performed in between release dates.

Scope

• This is intended for any Application Server Administrator responsible for installing Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.0) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4.0 or  Oracle Enterprise Linux.
  
  
• The requirements and steps in this document override what is mentioned Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.0) Quick Installation and Upgrade Guide, Oracle Application Server 10g(9.0.4) Installation Guide, and Upgrading to 10g (10.1.2.0.0) Guide.
  
  
• The requirements and steps described in this document are applicable for all the Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.0) installation types.
