OSSO 10g Login Fails For MS AD Users After Enabling External Authentication Plugin in OID: Authentication Failed (Doc ID 333761.1)

Symptoms

After enabling External Authentication plugin, AD users are not able to login to SSO.
Gets "Authentication Failed" error

ssoServer.log shows the following error

Tue Sep 06 23:04:11 PDT 2005 [DEBUG] AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-11 Authenticating
against OID using username/password
Tue Sep 06 23:04:11 PDT 2005 [DEBUG] AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-11 OID
UtilException
oracle.ldap.util.AuthFailureException: Unable to authenticate user: <USER_DN_VALUE>
