Last updated on SEPTEMBER 26, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 9.0.4 to 10.1.4 [Release 10gR1 to 10gR3]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Internet Directory (OID) Oracle Directory Manager (ODM / oidadmin) and/or dipassistant -gui 10g may have worked ok in the past.

Now ODM or dipassistant -gui seems to stall after logging in, and is empty; does not show any entries, just a single window pane with the Logo/Version.

Steps to reproduce:

Launch ODM or dipassistant -gui and enter username, i.e. orcladmin or dipadmin, and password, then click Login.

Able to see a momentary window that says "Connecting" then another momentary window that says "Loading Schema" then the main ODM screen, but no directory information is shown.

For ODM, it only shows the Oracle Internet Directory logo and Oracle Directory Manager version screen, and the menus across the top.  The "System Objects" pane does not appear, so it does not display the schema nor any directory entries.

The text at bottom of splash window / message bar may show, for example, "12 children" for oidadmin or "2 children" for dipassistant -gui.

There is no option available to open the directory and most of the menu options are greyed out.

After changing the client's system/OS graphic display settings (i.e., for terminal services access), then ODM displays the DIT / tree view with the entries ok, and the problem can no longer be reproduced.
