Last updated on JULY 01, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version: 9.0.4 to 10.1.4
This problem can occur on any platform.

When using ldapdelete to delete an OID entry with NLS-specific characters in the DN 'invalid DN syntax' error occurs.

Sample output:

    deleting entry Y249w5zDnMOcw5zDnMOcLGNuPUdyb3VwcyxkYz1ybyxkYz1vcmFjbGUsZGM9Y29t
    ldap_delete: Invalid DN syntax
ldap_delete: additional info: Error in DN Normalization.

ldapdelete is executed with -f option supplying a file containing the encoded DN. This file was created with ldapsearch using -L option.

Removing the dn:: from the start of the line in the input file does not resolve the error.
