Access to Oracle Portal Fails With an Error: Page Metadata Could Not Be Obtained From The Portal Database (Doc ID 358329.1)

Symptoms

Portal pages are not accessible after a clean installation of the Oracle Application Server software. The error message in the Internet browser is:

ERROR: PAGE METADATA COULD NOT BE OBTAINED FROM THE PORTAL DATABASE


All other components in the Oracle Application Server stack work fine.


The OC4J_Portal's logfile (application.log) shows timeout messages while retrieving page metadata :

portal: id=<ID>
ContentFetcher Unexpected Exception Request Failed:
oracle.webdb.dispatcher.DispatcherException: I/O Error dispatching request
name=content-fetcher23 label=pageMeta
