How to use a Format Mask to Display Leading Zeros for Fractions, but no Trailing Decimal Point for Integers (Doc ID 405577.1)

Goal

How to display numeric fields such that
    a) 0.12 is displayed as "0.12" and not as ".12"
    b) 12 is displayed as "12" and not "12."

With no format mask,
    a) 0.12 is displayed as ".12" -> not OK
    b) 12 is displayed as "12" -> OK

With a format mask of e.g. "FM9999990.99"
    a) 0.12 is displayed as "0.12" -> OK
    b) 12 is displayed as "12." -> not OK
