Symptoms

After applying the Oracle 10g Application Server Patch Set non Windows and Solaris platforms, the oraclehomeproperties.xml is incorrectly overwritten, (ie, it takes the Solaris values), preventing future updates of any one-off patch on the Oracle 10g Application Server instance. This applies to BOTH Infrastructure and Midtier installations.

When attempting to install a one-off patch on top of Oracle 10g Application Server Patch Set on operating systems other than Windows or Solaris, the following error will be seen.
Example given from Linux one-off patch installation using OPatch:

OPatch detects your platform as 23 while this patch < XXXXXXX > supports platforms:
46 (Linux Intel)
226 (Linux x86-64)

This patch is not suitable for this operating system.
Please contact support for the correct patch.

Basically it means this patch is not suitable for this operating system.
