Accessing JAZN LDAP SSO Protected Application Fails with "failed to get mod_osso global context" Error

J2EE application is protected using JAZN provider LDAP and auth-method SSO.
Settings in orion-application.xml <jazn provider="LDAP" > <jazn-web-app auth-method="SSO" /> </jazn>
Accessing application fails with HTTP 500 Internal Server Error
The HTTP server's error_log has the following error
status=499 and reason=Oracle SSO, but failed to get mod_osso global context.
