Error Message 503 Service Unavailable Returned by DB Portlet Caused by ORA-20000 (Doc ID 417836.1)

Symptoms

A PL/SQL portlet may sometime display the following error rather than show the expected content:

"The listener returned the following Message: 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable"

The following error is seen within the Portal Parallel Page Engine "application log":

07/02/02 08:32:05 [ecid: <ECID>] portal: [module=PortalServlet, ecid=<ECID>] ERROR: Repository Gateway error: Database Error: ORA=20000 ORA-20000: An attempt was made to access the session context without a valid session.
ORA-06512: at line 13
07/02/02 08:32:05 [ecid: <ECID>] portal: [module=PortalServlet, ecid=<ECID>] ERROR: oracle.webdb.repository.service.RepositoryServiceException: Portal session creation failed.
