'String or binary data would be truncated' Message with Multibyte Character Databases when Using CDC Feature of ODI (Doc ID 424196.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to start CDC (journalization) in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) on a table of a multibyte character RDBMS instance, the "Create Subscribers Table" step hangs (the green active icon for this task leads us to believe that it is still running).

In fact, the overall session does not remain in a suspended state but fails (indicated by the stop sign icon).

A message which is signaled to be independent of any step is displayed in the session "Execution" tab of the session summary.

In the case of Microsoft SQLServer the following message is displayed (analogous messages will be displayed with other RDBMSs):
