'ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object' Signaled With ODI XML Driver And "create_tables" Property For External Database Usage (Doc ID 424282.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 21, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Data Integrator - Version 3.2.03.01 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When using the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) XML Driver with an external Database to store the schema, this is carried out with a Properties file which contains the "create_tables" parameter set to AUTO. This means that ODI will create the XML tables only if they do not already exist.

The initial connection test is OK but subsequent ones fail with the following message:

java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object

... implying that ODI is attempting to create tables which already exist.

Note that Oracle is being used as External Database and the connection settings are as follows:

driver=oracle.jdbc.driver
url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@<HOST>:1521:<SID>
user=johndoe
password=...
