Windows OVD Manager 10.1.4.2 Patch Fails With a Memory Error
(Doc ID 443485.1)
Last updated on AUGUST 30, 2023
Applies to:
Oracle Virtual Directory - Version 10.1.4 to 10.1.4.2 [Release 10gR3]Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
This issue affects only the patch upgrade of OVD for the OVD Manager client. This does not affect any Linux or Unix versions. Also, it does not affect the 10.1.4 version of the OVD Manager client, but rather it affects the 10.1.4.2 patch when it is applied to the Windows version.
Symptoms
- OVD server (Linux) upgraded to 10.1.4.2
- Attempting to manage the patched server with the 10.1.4.0.1 OVD Manager client on Windows fails for any change attempted, with an error indicating a version mismatch. The documentation states that this is supported.
- This occurs even if a new workspace is created and the server configuration is completely loaded from the updated server before attempting to make a change with the manager GUI.
- The version number in the server xml file (Linux) and the management xml file (Windows) are identical.
- Attempting to patch the OVD Manager (Windows) fails every time. One error shows a requirement of 512 MB of swap space and it shows that the client PC has 0 MB swap space.
- Installing a Linux version of the 10.1.4.0.1 OVD Manager, patching it to 10.1.4.2, allows the upgraded OVD server to be managed.
Changes
This can be replicated by configuring an XP system to not use a Page File.
