How to Configure SSPU to use Domain Authentication (NTLM, AD)

Goal

I want to configure Site Studio Publishing Utility (SSPU) to connect to my Content Server using a domain user instead of a Content Server user or sysadmin but when I attempt to add a web site to be crawled using my domain credentials, I keep getting the following message:

ERROR: Cannot connect to Server URL:http://<servername>/stellent/idcplg

Since SSPU 7.2.3, NTLM authentication is disabled by default. Before configuring SSPU to support NTLM authentication, your Content Server must be configured to support Microsoft Login. See the sections External Security: NTLM, External Security: Active Directory, or External Security: LDAP in the Content Server guide Managing Security and User Access.
