Using mkvdk to Remove a Document from the Verity 2.7 Collection

Symptoms

I have a document that was deleted from the content server, but still shows up in my search results. If I click on the document, I receive an error indicating that the document no longer exists. It will take too long to do a complete collection rebuild, so how do I remove this document from the search collection?

Note: This article contains instructions specific to Verity 2.7. The syntax for the Verity commands has changed slightly from Verity 2.7. to Verity 4.5.1. For information, see the article title Using mkvdk to Remove a Document from the Verity 4.5.1 Collection.
