Combining Child Values When Using Multiselect Dependent Choice Lists (Doc ID 445848.1)

Last updated on MAY 10, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 7.5.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
-----
Content Server 7.5.1

Symptoms

Content Server strict multiselect fields allow the user to pick multiple values for the same field.

These values are stored as a comma separated list of values. The default behavior allows the user to choose several parent values and choose several dependent child values. Once chosen the system places these values to the right of the field.

By default each child choice needs to be selected immediately after choosing the top level or parent choice. A second parent choice can then be selected which will populate the lower level field with values associated with the latest parent choice.

It may be desirable to combine the child field values together allowing a user to select several parent values first and then select all of the associated child values.

Notice in the screen shot below, when both Asia and Europe are selected for the Region field the Language drop down only displays values associated with the last parent value, “Europe”.
