Content Server Will Not Start with "Unsupported major.minor version 49.0" Error (Doc ID 449997.1)

Symptoms

Content Server will not start, and the following error shows up in the server output:

java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: imagemanager/ImageManagerInstallFilter (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass0(Native Method)

Content Server starts normally when the ImageManager component is disabled through Component Wizard.
