Spreadsheet or Delimited Desformat with Large Datasets using RWSERVLET Hangs with REP-50125 and/or Crashes with REP-56048 (Doc ID 459824.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 16, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Reports Developer - Version 10.1.2.0.2 to 11.1.2.2.0 [Release Oracle10g to 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Oracle Reports 10g release 2 (v. 10.1.2.x.x), when trying to run a report to desformat=SPREADSHEET that produces large amounts of rows, the engine will stop and the job fails to complete.  The same issue can also happen for large datasets with desformat=DELIMITED.

If running with rwrun, the executable just goes away and there is no error or hs_err_pid.log.

Examples/Scenarios

* The engine crashes (without tracing turned on) in 13 seconds(*) with:

REP-177:  Error while running in remote server
rwEng-0 crashed, job id: 1

 * With tracing turned on, the server/engine may hang with 100% cpu utilization for at least 15 minutes (*).

(*) Times may vary on different reports and different systems

The trace results may display:
