Content Stuck in GenWWW - "Indexing Failed" Error Message on the Content Information Page

Content items stuck in GenWWW state while replicating content from one server to another. The error on Content Information page says:
"Indexing failed. Unable to find the file
A manual checkin also fails at random with a similar error.
