Last updated on APRIL 28, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Outside In Technology - Version 8.5.1 and later
Generic UNIX

Goal

The purpose of this note is to guide users who are experiencing X server issues through troubleshooting tasks.  The key point of the previous sentence is "troubleshooting".  This guide is not a definitive reference for installing, configuring or administering an X server in general.  X server administration is a UNIX administration task.  As such, the scope of this article is not to replace basic understanding and X server experience.  It is expected a knowledgeable UNIX system administrator is reading and using these troubleshooting steps.

OIT can be configured to use X server to convert vector graphics on UNIX platforms.  The symptoms experienced may include missing/empty graphics, error messages, and beyond.  The goal of this document is to help users troubleshoot symptoms related to X servers, when OIT is configured to use X.
