This document describes the usage and impact of the validate-connection option of the Oracle Containers for J2EE (OC4J) 10.1.3 connection-pool implementation that can be leveraged by an OC4J managed-data-source definition. Specific coverage is given to the mechanism for fail-over across bad connections found in the connection pool and the potential impact on the multiple open and pooled connections available in the connection pool when a bad connection is discovered.
