Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide a guide on how to track and identify a physical object on the filesystem, through the database, from a search result through a client. This procedure is often useful for troubleshooting a variety of issues with object retrievals, amongst other more generic problems.

Note: It is expected that the audience be familiar with relational databases and their administration tools. As this guide involves direct queries against a database, it is also recommended you perform all necessary backups prior to running these queries.
