Installing ODI 10G On Unix/Linux Platforms (Doc ID 762959.1)

All ODI versions prior to ODI 12.2.1.3 are out of their grace period.  Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 10G is also out of extended support.  This note should only be used in cases where an earlier version of Sunopsis requires upgrade to 10g as a step to get to a later installation version.  This article may become unavailable in the future.

This note explains in details the key requirements that need to be met for a successful installation of the Oracle Data Integration Suite (ODI) 10.1.3.4.0 or 10.1.3.5.0 on Unix platforms. This applies to

Please read through ODI Installation Guide and this note before you execute "./runInstaller" to install Oracle Data Integration Suite on such platforms.

Also check ODI 10g Certification Matrix to make sure your OS is certified. Otherwise, when you run ./runInstaller, you will get error message like './runInstaller: Invalid argument.'

Oracle Data Integrator 10g (10.1.3.4.0)
Includes: Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle Data Quality, Oracle Data Profiling

 

Note:

Oracle Data Integrator 10.1.3.4.0 has no setup programs for Solaris (SPARC), HPUX and AIX5L platforms. If you are installing ODI 10.1.3.4.0, then for these platforms along with other platforms that has no setup program, you will need to follow Page 50 of Oracle Data Integrator Installation Guide and do a manual install of Oracle Data Integrator.

 

Only Oracle Data Profiling and Data Quality Server components (ODQ Metabase Server and Scheduler) can be installed on Unix and Linux operating systems. Oracle Data Profiling and Data Quality client components (ODQ Metabase Manager, Oracle Data Profiling and Oracle Data Quality User Interface) can only be installed on Microsoft Windows, and more precisely: 

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional/Server with SP4
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional with SP2
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, SP1 (32 bit).

 Oracle Data Quality ODBC Adapter can also only be installed on a Windows-based server.

NOTE: In the example below any details, ie directories, username, etc., represent a fictitious sample. Any similarity to actual configurations, persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental and not intended in any manner.

 

This procedure is meant for those planning/trying to install Oracle Data Integration Suite on Unix/Linux platforms. This applies to Solaris (SPARC), HPUX Itanium, AIX5L .

Note:

At the time this note was written, ODI 11g was not released yet, so ODI 11g is not mentioned in this article. However the steps, though not written with ODI 11g in mind, should apply to ODI 11g as well.

For example, if you are installing ODI 11.1.1.3 which also has ODQ, you may follow this Note. If you are installing any 11g version of ODI only, you may apply the steps for ODI only from this note.
