ODI Customized Reverse Engineering Hangs and Freezes ODI Designer when ODI Repositories Are Stored on Microsoft SQLServer (Doc ID 790999.1)

Symptoms

In Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Designer, customized Reverse Engineering ( for example using RKM Hyperion Planning to reverse Hyperion Planning Models, RKM File from Excel) usually runs successfully.

However, sometimes the reverse Session starts and hangs or errors at the last step Set Metadata step. If it hangs, this in turn freezes ODI Designer, and you are obliged to kill ODI Designer from  the Windows Task Manager.

Note this issue is only observed with ODI Repositories created on Microsoft SQL Server Database.
