In Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), how is it possible to determine the number of records in a Flat File Datastore ?

Is it possible to develop another approach which enables the developer to determine the number of records in this file - during the runtime of an Integration Interface - and then to compare this value with another one which is either :

written into the first (header) record of the file
predefined in an ODI Variable
