The ESB SOAP Endpoint URI Link Does Not Provide a Web Service Test Page on WebLogic, WebSphere, or JBoss

Applies to:

Oracle ESB - Version: to
This problem can occur on any platform.

You have installed SOA Suite version or using a non-OC4J Application Server, either onto WebLogic, WebSphere, or JBoss.

You go to the ESB Control at http://<hostname>:<port>/esb, select an ESB service, then the "Definition" tab.  Check the SOAP Endpoint URI at this page and the following is seen:

The SOAP Endpoint URI is grayed out.  Going to the URL in a browser results in the following error:

Error 500--Internal Server Error
at oracle.tip.esb.server.service.impl.soap.EventOracleSoapRaiser.raiseEvent(
at oracle.tip.esb.server.service.impl.soap.EventAxisSoapProvider.doGet(
at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(
at org.apache.axis.transport.http.AxisServletBase.service(
at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(
at weblogic.servlet.internal.StubSecurityHelper$
at weblogic.servlet.internal.StubSecurityHelper.invokeServlet(
at weblogic.servlet.internal.ServletStubImpl.execute(
at weblogic.servlet.internal.ServletStubImpl.execute(
at weblogic.servlet.internal.WebAppServletContext$
at weblogic.servlet.internal.WebAppServletContext.securedExecute(
at weblogic.servlet.internal.WebAppServletContext.execute(

The SOAP Endpoint URI is not grayed out so it can be accessed directly, but instead of a test page you get the following in the browser:

"Axis HTTP Servlet
Hi, you have reached the AXIS HTTP Servlet. Normally you would be hitting this URL with a SOAP client rather than a browser."
