PL/SQL Web Services With Object or Collection Parameters Return Question Marks ( ?? ) in JDeveloper 11g / Weblogic 10.3.2 (Doc ID 839120.1)

Last updated on JUNE 29, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle JDeveloper - Version 11.1.1.1.0 to 11.1.1.2.0 [Release Oracle11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When a PL/SQL Web Service generated using JDeveloper 11g / Weblogic 10.3.2 passes data in Oracle object types and collections as parameters, using any other character sets besides US7ASCII, WE8DEC, WE8ISO8859P1 and UTF8, the return values are returned as question marks ( "???" ).

This happens because Globalization / Internationalization is not being used by the JDBC Driver here.

This note shows where to find information on how to enable the JDBC driver used by Oracle Weblogic to use Globalization / Internationalization.
