Doing Login to WebCenter Spaces after New Install Hangs

Symptoms
When attempting to login to WebCenter Spaces, the login hangs or shows the message:
internal error. If the error persists, report the problem to your administrator.
The WebCenter Spaces diagnostic log (WLS_Spaces_diagnostic.log) shows the following error at the time of login:

Steps To Reproduce:
The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:
- Install of WebCenter Spaces.
- Start the Node Manager and Managed Servers.
- Access WebCenter Spaces URL:
http://<HOSTNAME>:8888/webcenter/spaces - Attempt to login as weblogic user.
Here the login hangs.
