How to Start a WebLogic 10.3.x Domain AdminServer without Interactively Supplying the Username / Password (Doc ID 980292.1)

Goal

How to start an Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.x Domain Admin Server without having to interactively supplying the weblogic username and password?

The advice in this support document can be applied to any domain either created by standard Weblogic Server installation, or as part of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g build.

By following the advice below the Admin Server can be started in background mode. An attempt to start an Admin Server in background mode without following the advice will result in the generic error below (thrown when a password is not supplied.)
