Build ASAP SAR File Without Using Eclipse

Goal
We have developed an ASAP cartridge for ASAP 5.2.4 using Design Studio 3.0.1 in an Eclipse 3.3.2 platform (as recommended in Design Studio Installation Guide).
We are able to compile the cartridge correctly and create the sar file using Eclipse with Design Studio plugin installed on it. However we have a configuration management process requirement that needs to separate the development process from the build process.
Therefore as an input for the build process we have the cartridge source files and as an output we need to be able to create the sar file for deployment. The problem is that the build process is run from an unix server that cannot have Eclipse installed on it.
Is there a way to compile the cartridge source files without using Eclipse?
