When a Charging Control Services (CCS) Voucher Batch expires on a Voucher and Wallet Server (VWS), the vouchers belonging to the Voucher Batch also expire and become nonredeemable and can no longer be used. This will generate the following example of a VWS EDR (Event Data Record) showing the batch is "stale" in the RESULT tag.
BILLING_ENGINE_ID=2|SCP_ID=123372296|SEQUENCE_NUMBER=1540267|CDR_TYPE=15|RECORD_DATE=20110323185455|ACCT_ID=5210450|ACCT_REF_ID=0|ACS_CUST_ID=15| REDEEMING_ACCT_REF=9009992|VOUCHER=26641215|VOUCHER_NUMBER=1024031262|RESULT=Batch Stale
This article provides a method to reset the Voucher Batch expiration date and thereby extent the life of the associated vouchers so any unredeemed vouchers may be used.
Voucher Expiry Date
Before getting into the solution it is important to be familiar with how a Voucher Batch and its vouchers expiration date is calculated. It is a combination of:
The Activation Date of the Voucher Batch (yyyymmddhhmmss)
The Pre-Use Expiry Period defined in the Voucher Type (days)
A Voucher Batch and its vouchers expire when: Today > ( Activation Date + Pre Use Expiry Period )
