What Should the grcDbSid Setting be in an EGRCM RAC Environment Where the Instance and Service Names Do Not Match Up? (Doc ID 1313874.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 10, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance Manager - Version 8.6.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The grcDbSid setting is used as both instance name and service name in different steps of the EGRCM installation.  This works in a non-RAC install where service and instance names match up.  Customer is using a RAC Database where instance name and service name do not match.

What should the grcDBSid be set to in a RAC environment?

Customer is installing EGRCM 8.0.1 and is using a RAC database.

When setting grcDbSid = grcdev11 in the $MW_ORA_HOME/grc/scripts/grc_install.properties file the install fails with the following error message:

When setting "grcDbSid=xxxx" in the $MW_ORA_HOME/grc/scripts/grc_install.properties file, then "grcDS" DataSource failed to work. (It gets set to "jdbc:oracle:thin:@xxxxx:xxxx:xxxxx").
