Lost Mail After Adding A Message Store Partition (Doc ID 1324841.1)

User is unable to access mail.  IMAP client displays message about invalid partition. In the imap log file, we see:

[24/May/2011:16:19:03 -0400] <domain> imapd[3126]: Store Error:
cannot open mailbox user/<userid>/Drafts: Unknown/invalid partition

And new mail for that user is staying in the ims-ms queue with this error:

24-May-2011 16:30:01.23 52ca.2.0 ims-ms Q 1 <sender-address> rfc822;<recipient-address> <recipient-userid>@ims-ms-daemon 20 Unknown/invalid partition Unknown/invalid partition

A similar error would be reported by the LMTP channel if you were using LMTP instead.


A new partition was added with:

# configutil -o store.partition.<partition-name>.path -v <path>

and the user's mail was moved to that partition with:

# mboxutil -r user/<userid>/INBOX user/<same-userid>/INBOX <partition-name>
