Goal
This document provides instructions for configuring P6 Services (Job Services) to run as a separate Java process or from a dedicated server with P6 EPPM r8.1 and later releases.
Job Services in P6 EPPM are automatically enabled in the database via the Primavera P6 Administrator, in the P6 configuration; however the Services can be disabled from one configuration and enabled in another so that Job Services are run as a separate application and/or from a machine dedicated to Job Services. Starting with P6 EPPM r8.1, Oracle provides the p6services.jar file in the <P6 EPPM home>\p6 directory to accomplish this. For medium to large deployments, Oracle recommends setting up a dedicated application server node for Job Services and the Services should be disabled for the P6 Web process.
Starting with P6 EPPM release 19.12, the option to deploy a p6jobservices.war process through a WebLogic managed server is also available; for more details see Doc ID 2634499.1 - What Is the Difference Between the P6JobServices.war and P6Services.jar Files? That method is an alternative to, not a replacement for, the methods mentioned in this article.
