How to Configure a Separate Java Process for P6 Services (Job Services) in P6 EPPM 8.1 and Later Releases (Doc ID 1357440.1)

Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

The goal of this document is to provide instruction for configuring P6 Services (job services) to run from a dedicated java process or from a dedicated server with P6 EPPM r8.1 and later releases.

P6 Services (Job Services) in P6 R8.1 are automatically enabled in the Primavera P6 Administrator in the database configuration designated for P6; however, the services can be disabled from one configuration and enabled in another so that P6 Services (Job Services) can be run as a separate application and/or from a machine dedicated to P6 Services (job services).  Starting with P6 EPPM r8.1, Oracle provides a file called p6services.jar to accomplish this.  For medium to large deployments, Oracle recommends setting up a dedicated application server node for P6 Services (job services) and the services should be disabled from the same process accepting user traffic.

Starting with P6 EPPM release 19.12, the option to deploy a p6jobservices.war process through a WebLogic managed server is also available; for more details see Doc ID 2634499.1 - What Is the Difference Between the P6JobServices.war and P6Services.jar Files? That method is an alternative to, not a replacement for, the methods mentioned in this article.
