No Data in AAA GW Diameter Final-Unit-Action AVP (449) CCA (Doc ID 1360858.1)

Describe a workaround to fix a problem in AAA GateWay (GW) Diameter.


AAA GW Diameter Credit Control Answer contain no data in Final-Unit-Action AVP (449) in Final Unit Indication block AVP (430) for prepaid voice authorization/re-authorization message.

AAA GW Diameter prepaid voice message scenario:

Oracle Communications Service Broker (OCSB) sends Diameter authorisation request to AAA GW that is passed via Event Data Records (EDR) container to Billing and Revenue Management (BRM)

Account exists in BRM and is successfully authorized - the Authorization DIAMETER_SUCCESS is sent back from AAA GW to OCSB.

During Re-authorization (DIAMETER_UPDATE message), when BRM account does not have enough resources to continue the call, AAA GW sends back the Final-Unit-Indicator (430) AVP containing the information about the last available resources. The block should contain the Final-Unit-Action (449) set to TERMINATE(0), but it is containing no data.

Hence, the call is never closed by OSCB, since no TERMINATION information is received from BRM through AAA GW.

The problem seems to be a bug, as the Out of Box (OOB) AAA GW code is setting the field, but somehow the Diameter message has it corrupted.

During the Final-Unit-Indication block, Final-Unit-Action AVP should be set to TERMINATE = 0.
