SMS Messages Received from Sieve Redirect Come From Recipient (Doc ID 1392251.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 04, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 6.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Users have Sieve filters (added by Communications Express or Convergence) which use the Sieve redirect action to forward the message to their mobile phone/device.  When those messages pass through they appear to come from the person to whom the original mail message was sent rather than the real original sender.  Thus the user receives SMS messages which appear as if he sent himself the message.

Changes

The customer recently upgraded to Messaging Server 7.x from Messaging Server 5.2.

You could also encounter the problem after upgrading or patching from early versions of 6.3 (or before) to any later version.
